Washington, DC – US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has been discharged from hospital on Wednesday (Jan. 2) after treatment on a blood clot between her skull and brain,.according to a statement from the US state department.
“Secretary Clinton was discharged from the hospital this evening. Her medical team advised her that she is making good progress on all fronts, and they are confident she will make a full recovery,” said Philippe Reines, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, adding, “She’s eager to get back to the office.”
Clinton was earlier seen leaving New York-Presbyterian Hospital with her husband and daughter but the state department said at the time she had not been discharged, but was merely traveling to another hospital building on the campus for further tests.
Reines also expressed the gratitude of the Clintons saying, “She and her family would like to express their appreciation for the excellent care she received from the doctors, nurses and staff at New York Presbyterian Hospital Columbia University Medical Center.”
Clinton was taken to hospital on Sunday when the clot was discovered. Earlier this month Clinton suffered a concussion after fainting and falling down.
Secretary Clinton, 65, is due to stand down before President Barack Obama formally begins his second term in January. At the time of her faint, she was reported to have had a stomach virus and to have passed out after becoming dehydrated.
