Washington, DC – The lawns of India House (the official residence of Harsh V Shringla, the Indian Ambassador to the US) came alive on July 24 as more than a hundred members of the White House Press Corps attended a media outreach reception hosted by the Indian Embassy here.
These included members of the White House Correspondents Association, the White House News Photographers Association and independent members of the White House Press Corps.
Welcoming the guests, Ambassador Shringla underscored the importance of a free and vibrant media, which India and the US, the largest and the oldest democracies, have in common.
The event featured a Hindustani music recital by Sitar Maestro Pt. Supratik Sengupta and a dance performance by the Virginia Tech Bhangra team.
The sumptuous dinner was catered by Virginia based Chennai Express. (IAT)
