Annapolis, Maryland – The Maryland Asian American elected officials and top Asian American leaders were joined by a myriad of important social activists and prominent community journalists at a reception hosted by the Maryland Legislative Asian American and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) Caucus.

President Senator Susan C. Lee of the Caucus hosted the event recognizing top Asian American and Pacific Islander leaders on February 13 at the Senate Miller Building in Annapolis, Maryland. Citation

Tejinder Singh, the editor of India America Today was one of the recipients presented with a congratulatory “Official Citation” in recognition of their “efforts to foster an exchange of dialogue between local, Asian American communities and their elected officials in Maryland.”

Addressing a select audience of Marylanders before the awards ceremony, Maryland’s First Lady, Yumi Hogan – the first Korean-American First Lady in the United States – praised the efforts of community leaders for serving the people.

Commending the efforts of Senator Lee and Judge Chung Pak, who spearheaded the organization of the event, Elisha B. Pulivarti, President & Co-Founder of the US India SME Council, told IAT, “I am grateful to both Senator Lee and Judge Chang for their unflinching efforts to enhance the status of Asian Americans. The event was punctuated with exquisite dance and musical performances by artistes from Asian nations and included a sumptuous dinner for the attendees.
