Ambassador Domingos Estêvão Fernandes expressed deep regret that despite its efforts, the Council was unable to adopt a resolution which was meant to address the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza. His delegation voted in favour of the text, hoping that it would lead to an immediate humanitarian ceasefire, thereby mitigating the suffering of the Palestinian civilian population in the Gaza Strip.
