Washington, DC – The Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS) – a national non-partisan, nonprofit organization – hosted a Ceremonial Swearing-In for members of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC) of the 116th Congress on the evening of January 8.
APAICS congratulated the returning CAPAC members as well as the congressional freshman class of 2019, which includes the most racially diverse and gender balanced group of representatives ever elected. “Our diversity is our strength but our unity is our power,” said Speaker Nancy Pelosi in her remarks.
CAPAC Chair Rep. Judy Chu, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Majority Leader Steny Hoyer and Majority Whip Jim Clyburn shared remarks. MSBNC News Anchor Richard Lui was the Emcee, Judge Sri Srinivasan administered the oath of office.
A special welcome was given to newly elected Rep. Andy Kim (NJ), Rep. TJ Cox (CA), and Rep. Michael San Nicolas (GU).
