United Nations, 11 December 2023
Your excellencies, Distinguished Guests, Ladies and Gentlemen,
Allow me to thank Ranju and Ravi Batra for inviting me to participate in this important annual event. Beyond the issuance of the Diwali stamp and the extraordinary hard work undertaken to make it happen, Ravi and Ranju stand as a testament to its meaning. These two have championed peace over war, cultivated friendships across the UN system and brought us together in celebration on more than one occasion. Also, I want to thank dear Olof Skoog for his work in organizing this year’s event.
It is truly an honor and a moment of immense joy to gather here at the United Nations to celebrate a special occasion that reflects the rich cultural tapestry of our world, with you, dear colleagues, and friends.
